I had a wonderful doggie holiday in the Gregory National Park, just off the Victoria, Highway, the route from Katherine, in the Northern Territory, to Kunnanarra, in Western Australia.

I had not expected to be allowed in a National Park but the signs all said I was welcome as long as I was kept on a lead no longer than one and a half meters and within the area car park'.  As the cars were able to park over a huge area of the red earth roads, all the way down to the river and creeks I was allowed everywhere I wanted to go, according to te National Parks authorities.  It was my mum who was a pain to deal with, she would not allow me to go anywhere there was grass, kept muttering about 'ticks', and she added powder to my coat, and ran hew hands all over me many times a day, inspecting me, but all was cool, I didn't have a chance to pick up a tick, much less a grass seed.

A night police patrol, toured all the camp sites along this part of the Victoria Highway, calling past three times a night from dusk until our bed time, and I assume are still doing the rounds through the night.. One evening they 'moved a group of noisy people, along' to of the park and I saw them speaking to a man who's dog's were not on a lead.   I thought it was a privilege to be allowed into a National Park, can't quite understand people letting a dog of a lead in an area where wildlife is encourages as it's only going to make it harder for us well behaved dogs to gain entry and I so loved sitting on my pillow in my deck chair, watching the birds.

Strange trees here.  Boab trees.  Again mum would not allow me close enough to inspect the,  Just as well  adore red dust, it's great to dig in, roll in, colour my hair in, I never missed the grass and I loved that there were no burrs, in this area.  It was a perfect place for a dog and mum and dad took me for lots of walks, though once again, mum was a pain, I wasn't allowed near the water's edge.  Mum muttering about, 'crocs', this time.

It was a great relaxing camp site for a dog and human family. The Big Horse, Creek, car park, at the junction of the mighty Victoria River and Big Horse Creek, just out of Timber Creek.   If you wan to go on the Victioia River, sunset cruise, book into TimberCreek caravan park and they will mind your dog for you while you go on the cruise.   I stayed there last year, and let mum and dad have the evening out.
