There are Autism dogs, Alzheimer's dogs, Post Traumatic Stress dogs, Hearing dogs, Cardio/Pulmonary/Vascular dogs, Psychiatric Aid dogs, as well as Mobility dogs. Many of these dogs aid a partner that does not show an obvious disability to the average person. Our Indigo is a disability care dog for my husband Reg who has frontal lobe degeneration. Indigo knows she has a responsibility of care toward Reg. We are both very aware of how well Indigo helps care for him. Her work would be less obvious to others   ANIMAL rescuers have slammed a Department of Primary Industries bureau for putting more stray animals at risk of being culled. Dog Rescue Association of Victoria president Trisha Taylor said enforcing the existing law would cause more animals to be killed. "The Bureau of Welfare makes it so difficult for rescue groups. "There's nothing in the legislation that stops pounds releasing dogs to rescue groups - we believe there is a misinterpretation. "I live in a residential home in a residential street and I'm being told that to foster a dog I must be a domestic animal business. There's no way I could become registered as a domestic animal business. It's just ludicrous." Casey community safety manager Caroline Bell said the council supported the department's efforts to clamp down on unlicensed animal welfare groups. "The City of Casey does not provide unwanted cats and dogs on death row to unregistered rescue groups. It uses the RSPCA as its service provider for animals that are impounded and after the statutory eight-day period, the RSPCA becomes the lawful owner of the impounded animals." Ms Bell said using unregistered volunteer groups could lead to complaints of animal hoarding and premises could not be monitored to ensure health and hygiene standards were met. National Novel Writing Month  Obama Urged To Sign Animal Crush Video Act Into Law President Obama is under pressure to quickly sign a bill prohibiting the sale and distribution of videos depicting animal cruelty. In July 2009, the Federal Depiction of Animal Cruelty Law was overturned by the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals which ruled that animal cruelty films were protected as free speech. The ruling resulted in an increase in so-called "animal crush" videos on the internet, in which small animals are intentionally tortured and crushed. And in April 2010, a defendant being prosecuted for marketing and selling videos showing pit bull dogs attacking each other and other animals in staged fights was released after the judge ruled that the law goes against the constitutional right of freedom of speech. The only existing law that is in contradiction of freedom of speech is that which governs child pornography. At the time, Chief Justice John Roberts concluded that Congress had failed to show that depictions of dog fights justified a special category of exclusion from the right of free speech. As an example, the law would prevent even a news agency from producing an undercover documentary that included evidence of dog fighting. This month the United States Senate has passed a new bill - the Prevention of Interstate Commerce in Animal Crush Videos Act of 2010 - in an attempt to counter this industry without violating freedom of speech rights. The law dictates that people convicted of selling or distributing a "crush video" could be sentenced to up to five years in prison. President Obama is now being urged to quickly sign the bill into law. "Crush videos depict an extreme form of animal cruelty. The deliberate torture of animals is not just a concern because of the animal cruelty involved, but because studies have shown that there is a link between animal cruelty and violence against humans. By passing the Prevention of Interstate Commerce in Animal Crush Videos Act, the United States Congress is potentially helping to prevent other serious violent crimes. This vote moves us one step closer to turning this bill into federal law, and the ASPCA is hopeful President Obama will voice his conclusive support for this important legislation," said Ann Church, senior director of ASPCA Government Relations. Puppies are so much fun. We picked Indigo up when she was 7 weeks old and had the fun of watching her learning games. I think she thinks it is the other way around, she has taught us to play ball and rough puppy toy play. Indigo is the first dog we ever gave a soft to. I always feel the best photos are those spontaneous moments not the posed professional shots. I love not only that the new smart phones have things like iphone warranty but that they have great cameras as you usually have the phone near you though you do not always have a camera ready to capture special puppy and children moments. Take your dog for a walk before the photo, not far enough to exhaust the dog but just enough that they get that panting grin by the time you get back and look at you with adoration as big thanks for the walk.
