Indigo had her shampoo and clip once more. We have an external shower built into the sidewall of our Eco Tourer caravan, which makes it so convenient for shampooing the dog.  It sure attracts many comments from fellow caravan travellers. 

I have a great set of clippers and I know if I wanted to, I could set up a cash mmf drawer lol J and rake the money in as a mobile caravan park, dog, groomer. I turn work away, I have too many other interests to groom other people's dogs.

There is certainly a great opportunity in that field, for someone with dog grooming skill, looking for work while they travel the country.

Before, the SCRUFF
My Mum loves taking her 'before and after' photos. Well Mum says my before pictures were taken yesterday as I came back in the ferry from Ballina. Mum said I was just plain scruffy. http://www.doggiesblog.com/1/post/2010/04/ferry-dog.html

So today she showered me in the outside shower we have on our Eco Tourer caravan.  Mum came back from swimming and before I knew what was happening we were showering outside together.  Then a rough towel dry and shake, a blow dry, the new clippers out and a size 10 blade face and feet, size 7 very short, body and legs.
A scissor trim of the top knot and tail  and my anti tick collar back in place and I'm smelling beautiful again she says.

Not as good as my regular groomer Carla, but I will not hurt mum's feelings by telling her so. I feel fun loving cool :-)

Walk in baths are not just for humans. They eliminate the backbreaking work of washing a larger dog.  Carla, at Narre Warren Dog Grooming, has a walk in bath because she grooms most dog breeds. There is no way she would attempt to lift a full size dog like a Maremma, on her own, without risking an injury. In fact most full sized Maremma's are a two person job, to groom. :-).  With a well designed, walk in bath, Carla, just leads a dog in, she can turn it around in the bath and lead it out again, with ease.  It is easier for the dog too and most enjoy their bath and groom.

We went for a drive to Cranbourne on Friday. I had heard than mum was going shopping but I did not know that it was me, Indigo, who was going to get most of the gifts.

Firstly, I got a professional grooming. I was taken to my favourite dog clipper, Carla’s Dog Clipping for a hydro bath, groom and clip, plus I had my toe nails trimmed.

Then mum took the brand new but crappy clippers she bought on EBay.com.au and the brand new but blunt clipper blades she also bought from a different EBay seller, over to Clipper World at Cranbourne, on the recommendation of Carla’s Dog Clipping.

That’s the thing with buying on EBay, you win some you lose some, some of mum’s best buys and worst mistakes were all on EBay, but overall she still returns, so I guess most purchases turn out well.

Other customers must think Clipper World are good because they have won a Highly Recommended for customer service in the 2007 Australian Achiever Awards.

Clipper world’s web site, say’s it  stocks the largest range of clippers in Australia and mum found a nice ergo metrically designed handled twin speed clipper that came with its own no 10(face ) blade.

That is exactly what happened to us. Buy cheap = sometimes you buy twice, certainly the case with clippers and blades, it seems.

Mum bought a new number seven blade, for when I am in tick and grass seed country to take my coat very short, but not quite as close as my face. That is the clip I have now. I am a country girl so I prefer it this way. The blunt 5’s she has left at Clipper World, for their expert sharpening service and we already have the narrow blade to clip in between my feet that will fit this new clipper. 

Then mum bought me a new purple retractable dog lead and a tick and flea collar to put on a week before I leave for the East of Australia, the paralysis tick prone areas.

I do love my new clip and I hope when we travel and mum clips me, she will do a better job of it now she has professional tools for the job. Mum is happy that she has two size 10 blades, a size 7 a 5 and a set of toe clippers in a compact case that will be easy to store in the caravan and she will get my clipper blades sharpened at Clipper World, before and after each big tour we head out on.
