Childern and Dogs. 05/06/2010
Indigo had a beautiful day yesterday here at the show grounds at Maleny, QLD While mum and her good friend Narelle enjoyed catching up on the last three years, together, I played with Narelle’s two-year-old granddaughter Jessica. Here is a book available through Fishpond that has some beautiful images of children and dogs. The Best Dog in the World Vintage Portraits of Children and Their Dogs By Donna Long Packed with gorgeous sepia-toned photographs, this is a timeless tribute to loyal canine companions and the kids who adore them. Historian and dog lover Donna Long's insightful text provides a window into the lives of children during this golden age, while her notes about their loyal fur friends shed light on the rising popularity of familiar breeds (as well as good old-fashioned mutts). From precious pugs to regal retrievers, this rare collection of portraits is a sweet, poignant, and captivating testament to the abiding love between children and their dogs. Did you know? The Pekingese was never seen outside China until 1860, when British soldiers brought four of them back to Britain, where they were an immediate sensation. Also until about 1900, it was usual to dress infants and toddlers, girls and boys, in dresses. Publisher: Ten Speed Press Dog At The Wedding 01/30/2010
Dogs, brought Reg and I together. My dog, came on most of our dates. My dog was at my wedding reception. Our dogs have shared our life together. These days, the dog, would have been invited to the Wedding. More frequently than ever before, the dog, as a valued, family member, is taking part in the important ceremonies of life, especially weddings. Dogs, are even being entrusted, with the important role of groomsman and bridesmaid, these days. Getting your dog, ready for the ceremony. What To Wear? A corsage in the collar, a tulle mini fascinator would suit a poodle’s topknot. What would suit the boy dogs? I did a search of what was for sale for the groom’s man, dog and was amazed to find the range of dress shirts, tuxedo jackets and tuxedo pants on offer. It seems many people consider the dog such a valued family member they are included in ‘the big occasions’, in life. Golden Retriever: A trustworthy, family dog. 12/28/2009
The temperament of the Golden Retriever is described, in the Kennel Club, standard for the breed, as "kindly, friendly and confident". Golden retrievers are the fourth most popular dog chosen for families, in the world. This is my best friend, the golden retriever, ‘Kelly’. While it is sometimes said golden retrievers are too friendly to make good watchdogs, this is one dog that I trust enough to share my best friend, human dad and even my most loved, old, ball. Having once been bitten by a bull terrier and heard stories about how the previous poodle my mum and dad owned was bitten by a dingo, I think you need life insurance before you go close to some dog breeds. If I was to think of synonyms for the word ‘trust’, it would be, J, my best doggie friend, ‘Kelly’ or ‘Golden retriever’. Best dogs, for families. 11/29/2009
Visiting the family just makes my day. J. This is Hannah and me. :-) Burkes back yard, lists my breed, the poodle as one of the top 10 dogs to be big enough to be a watchdog but friendly enough to be great with children. It gives my need for grooming as a draw back to my breed, but I have a wonderful groomer Carla, for part of the year and lol, a terrible one, my mum, when I am travelling. I am still growing out the last, awful haircut my mum gave me. I am a practical dog; I usually have short hair trims, for easy care and frolicking fun. As for his saying some poodles are neurotic, I would say, check the breeder is a good one and not just breeding for show looks but is considering health of the breed. This applies to all dog breeds. Poodles are one of the more intelligent breeds and want a little intelligent behaviour from owners, they are very unhappy dogs if neglected, untrained, and they need human pack involvement. Poodles are happiest being sociable and interacting in a family. All intelligent animals like to learn a few tricks and manners and use them every day. I get a daily treat but I always do things like 'sit', 'stay', 'come', and 'fetch', for them and I know that I am not the boss, because I am always fed last. Simple rules I play along with, and in this way I and other dogs, treated with this respect, stay emotionally healthy. I went to visit the family and they were all excited about having just been to see New Moon and thought I would try some supernatural special effects to try to get the families minds off werewolves and vampires. Never mind all this talk about team Edward and team, Jacob, how about a bit more attention and noticing team Indigo.
